🚨 SEC Dismisses Binance Lawsuit

In a major shift for U.S. crypto regulation, the SEC has officially dropped its lawsuit against Binance and founder Changpeng Zhao. The dismissal follows Binance’s $4.3 billion settlement with the U.S. government in 2023 and marks the closure of one of the last major crypto enforcement actions.

This move reflects a broader change in regulatory tone under the current administration, signaling a more collaborative approach to crypto oversight. Binance called the decision a “huge win for crypto” and welcomed the renewed focus on innovation.

🚫 SEC Pushes Back on Staked ETH & SOL ETFs

The SEC has raised red flags over proposed Ethereum and Solana staking ETFs submitted by REX Shares and Osprey Funds, casting doubt on whether the products meet the structural and legal standards to qualify as ETFs.

At issue is the use of a C-corporation structure, which deviates from the norms of Rule 6c-11—the framework governing ETF approval. The SEC also questioned the adequacy of the registration filings, further delaying any potential launch.

This move signals continued regulatory caution around crypto staking products, with the SEC emphasizing the need for investor protection and legal compliance. If unresolved, this could set the tone for future ETF filings involving staking strategies.
